Meet Kathleen

Kathleen Story

Registered Psychotherapist, Canadian Certified Counsellor

Life unfolds through our connections—with ourselves, our partners, our families, and the people who shape our lives. These relationships can bring moments of deep joy, connection, and belonging, but they can also bring uncertainty, grief, change, and moments where we feel stuck. Reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when exploring personal experiences or relationship challenges. My hope is to provide a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as you explore your story and take steps toward meaningful change.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor with experience supporting couples, individuals, families, children, and adolescents as they navigate life’s challenges. My work has focused on relationship concerns, communication difficulties, anxiety, trauma, grief, emotional regulation, and life transitions. With a background in education and child and youth support, I have a deep appreciation for how our experiences, relationships, and environments shape who we are. I believe healing happens through connection, and that every person has strengths, resilience, and the capacity for growth.

My approach

I believe therapy is a collaborative process built on trust, compassion, and genuine connection. My approach is trauma-informed, attachment-based, strengths-focused, and culturally responsive, recognizing that our experiences and relationships shape how we understand ourselves and connect with others. I integrate approaches such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, emotion-focused therapy, family systems perspectives, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy, tailoring our work to your unique needs, goals, and experiences.

My hope is to create a space where you can explore your story, strengthen your relationships, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and others. Together, we can work toward greater self-compassion, healthier connections, and a life that feels more aligned with your values.

My approach-Emily-Jane

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.
