EMDR

You’ve been noticing you’re not as present in your life and relationships as you’d like to be. Old hurts seem to be resurfacing and are holding you back from connection and decision-making. That inner voice has not been very kind lately and you find yourself stuck in negativity and self-doubt. Or perhaps you’ve been through a recent or single trauma and are experiencing symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety and panic, anger, numbing, or emotional distress.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy that can help alleviate the symptoms of trauma, lower or eliminate the emotional distress connected to both recent and past traumatic events, and help to change negative beliefs into positive and adaptive ones. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to tap into your brain’s natural ability to process through and resolve trauma. Katherine uses a collaborative approach in her EMDR therapy to help identify and address what beliefs or triggers may be holding you back and works together with you to decide which type of bilateral stimulation (for example, rapid eye movements or tapping) is most effective and gentle for you. EMDR can work relatively quickly and does not require you to talk in depth about your traumatic experiences like traditional talk therapy does. You can learn more about EMDR here.
